Join the community with an incredible journey into the world of the Powwow. Master of Ceremonies Steve Lapointe (Lakota) will explain the history of the powwow and how it has evolved throughout Indian Country. He will share the story of the powwow drum and the songs that are sung by the singers. The featured dancers are representative of many tribes: Lakota, Dine, Kickapoo, and Cheyenne. Dancers will showcase different styles of the dance.
Red Feather Woman (Lakota/Nakota) will enlighten, entertain, and educate the audience with legends from the Plains Tribes, accompanied with contemporary music from her award-winning albums. Featured flutist, Calvin Standing Bear Jr, will play his original Native flute music.
Native art vendors will be set up in lobby and free food will be provided by Tocabe Native American Eatery.
